The First Academy Awards

The 1'st academy awards were held on May 16, 1929 at a private dinner held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles, California. Tickets cost five dollars a person, 270 people attended the ceremony which only lasted fifteen minutes!

The evening look in the late twenties where to about the ankle and had a drop waist. Velvet was a fabric used often, and beading was very popular. Loose fitting clothing was very in, almost a flapper like style.

Janet Gaynor, the first women to win best actress for her performance in Seventh Heaven, Street Angle, and Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans.

New Look!

Dear Reader,

My blog has just undergone a makeover! As you can see... New Tabs (for your convenience) total colour scheme change,  I changed my About Me description, and I have a signature now!

I will be offering advice about fashion, and beauty and Lyme Disease. I will be having a new tab, called Style: this will be about budget friendly fashion, and where different people shop!

As a blogger I would like to apologize for not holding up my end of the bargain. I did not post regularly, and I did not cover NY Fashion Week, also I didn't do Did I Pull it off. I deeply regret this and hope you accept my sincerest apologies.

From now on I promise to: post on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. If I will not be able to post on these days I will notify you ahead of time, and make up the post on a later date.  I will also Report on important fashion events, and follow up on any posts I make that need a follow up.

As a reader will you promise to: Let me know your opinion and feel free to state your opinion openly.

Happy Reading!

Are Gifts Just That Simple?

Dear Reader,

Today in the grocery store it finally hit me Valentines day is only 9 days away! I realized something at that moment- I hate Valentines day! Now I don't hate the thought of the Holiday, I hate the holiday.

Why? What do you think of when you think of Valentines day? Romance, Love, Hearts, or Roses? The thought could go on for hours. What do you think of when you think of your significant other on valentines day? Chances are your a woman reading this... and chances are your thinking about diamonds and fancy restaurants for valentines day celebrations.

Valentines day is not about commercialized romance. Valentines is about love, spontaneity, nice gestures. Its not about roses- its about your family and how much you love them. Its not about the pressure to buy the perfect gift- its about the time you spend with your special someone. Its not about diamonds- its about the sacrifices you have made for love, the chances you've taken, and the chances you will take together.

Valentines day is about love, and romance. Its not about the champagne and roses romance. Its about the true meaning of romance love, respect, nothing else in the world matters.

And that is why I dislike the Holiday, but like the thought. Love cannot be marked on the calender. Love is there. Always.

Love,

Kate

Pony Tail Shoe?!

Dear Reader,

Yes, you read the title right. The favorite hairstyle among women Is now part of a shoe. Now I know I encourage you to take fashion risks but the one who pulls off this shoe (if possible) Kudos to you!

The Inspiration? A horse? Now the riding boot has the inspiration of riding, but not the actual horse. The tail made of hair and gold material to express the vi son "of a horse running like the wind. "

The tail itself is weird, but the rest of the shoe is too. How is one supposed to walk in this shoe? They don't! I know that sensibility is NOT fashion, but this is beyond sensibility this is risking your life!

The large platform below the actual base is made of wood. The base of the shoe is fabulous! If you added a heel to the base and got rid of the tail, I would buy that shoe in a heartbeat!

The bottom line is: The shoe has a hair tail and no heel. I would ask the designer how does one walk in this?

Kudos to you Masaya Kushino for taking a large fashion- shoe risk! It takes guts to design a shoe like that.

Which do you think is more daring, Celine Spring 2013 shoes, or Masaya Kushino shoe?
